I have had my M crossover just a short time but the few times I had used it Im happy with it and for the money it was a very good buy.I have no use for the mp3 thing or picture viewer , magellan should have put the money for those features into a better POI I was in front of a Kmart and it was not listed as Kmart or BigK I found other POI that should have been programmed in but were missing but I love the text too speech and street names given I havent used the cds that came with it and I havent used it on my boat yet so I can not comment on these features but so far Im very pleased with my Magellan crossover.
I just got a Magellan Crossover and found out that it just doesn't work well for GeoCaching. Magellan really missed a big market by not adding geocaching functionality to this unit. The device doesn't recognize.GPX,.LOC or.GS geocache files. The only way I've found to get geocaches on the unit is to enter the coordinates manually or covert and upload geocache files as POI's.
For the road this item worked okay but using it for hiking it stinks. It does not show any rivers on it only elevation's. It has some good points by plotting where you go but to program this function is confusing. I wanted to get a program for it that had a map of Florida, they had none.
In my case it causes quite a bit of problem because I live near a new exit that was opened about 18 months ago however when my trip takes me to the Freeway it will route me to the one north or south of me and will keep telling me to make a U-Turn when I go the correct way. This is a great buy for a complex three way GPS that is good for trails, the road and also for marine. It has fully loaded maps and operates like a dream however if you are in an area of new developement, it doesn't have the latest roads and Freeway exits. The past two years have cause our area to expand so rapidly that when I drive to a place an then locate myself on the GPS it will show me sitting out in a field. A new map will cost about $75,00,
I would not have been able to purchase this item new. I bought this GPS crossover skeptical of purchasing a used one. It was just like brand new and my son has been beside himself with the quality and features of this model. It made Christmas for me and my son. Thank you.
